Bible Text: 1 Timothy 6:11-16 |

O Man of God

1 Timothy 6:11–16

Man of God is a designation for those who are not of the world but for those who are now born of God, partakers of the heavenly calling, who serve the Lord Christ!

flee these things - The sinfulness of the love of money (v. 10). The sinful flesh will lust after worldly pleasures, luxuries, and wealth - Matthew 6:24

and pursue - The man of God will follow the Lord Jesus Christ - Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

righteousness - The man of God will seek to live in integrity and morality before God and others - Act 24:16 This being so, I myself always strive to have a conscience without offense toward God and men.

godliness - The man of God will go after God through an inward and outward devotion - Daniel 6:5 Then these men said, "We shall not find any charge against this Daniel unless we find it against him concerning the law of his God."

faith - The man of God will doggedly trust God and His word no matter what -                    2 Corinthinas 5:7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.

love -  The man of God will set his affections for God and for the care of others - Romans 13:10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

patience - The man of God will endure the onslaught of the world - 2 Timothy 2:1–13

gentleness - The man of God will embrace humility and meekness - Titus 3:1–3

Fight the good fight of faith - The man of God will agonize to overcome - Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

lay hold on eternal life - The man of God will have determined grip on the meaning and value living for God - Colossians 3:2–4 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.

to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses - The man of God will freely and openly acknowledge the Lord Jesus Christ and bear witness to His lordship in their life.

Will you answer the call to be a man of God?
